Lakeside Presbyterian Preschool was created to provide a Bible-based learning experience for children of preschool age in a nurturing and safe environment. The Word of the Living God serves as the basis for all policy decisions and the content of each school day. The example set by the teachers and the Biblical examples used for illustrations are integral parts of the Christian school. The Preschool is designed to establish a positive attitude about school and about learning. Lakeside Preschool strives to amply prepare its children for kindergarten, to develop an appreciation for the world around them, and to foster their desire to be God’s children.
Philosophy
All children should be taught the Word of God so they may live productive lives in the will of God. “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it” (Proverbs 22:6).
Lakeside Presbyterian Preschool implements developmentally appropriate practice for early education through active involvement in the environment. Through the utilization of a center-based curriculum children are allowed the opportunity to learn by exploring, playing, manipulating, and problem solving. Play supports cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. Science, music, nature, art, outdoor exploration, dramatization, manipulative activities, and early math and literacy activities are vital components of each school day and foster growth and learning.
Our Program
Lakeside Preschool offers Mother's Morning Out for children one year old by September 1st. In addition to the two, three, and four year old preschool classes, Monday Fun Day (MMO) is offered for two and three year olds and Thursday Fun Day (MMO) is available for three year olds. The school day begins at 8:30 and ends at 11:30 with a Lunch Bunch option available Monday through Thursday. Lunch Bunch extends your child's day until 1:45. As a licensed child care facility Lakeside Preschool is required to meet or exceed all regulations governing licensure of child care facilities as set forth by the Mississippi Department of Health.
All Preschool classes use the Weekday Early Learning Curriculum. In addition,the three and four year old classes utilize Handwriting Without Tears.
